Olivenhain Municipal Water District Achieves Highest Honor for Financial Reporting
Olivenhain Municipal Water District’s Board of Directors accepted at its September 14 meeting the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
The award recognizes OMWD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Providing an overview of OMWD’s fiscal management, the report contains details about budgetary controls, debt administration, and investment policies.
“The certificate of achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting,” said OMWD Board President Larry Watt. “OMWD has been the proud recipient of this award for 27 consecutive years, validating our commitment to spending public funds responsibly and transparently.”
Established in 1945, GFOA’s certification program assists state and local governments in ensuring that users of their financial statements have the information needed to assess their financial health. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure of data to communicate financial statements and operating procedures accurately and clearly, inviting community involvement.
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 21,000 government finance professionals. GFOA members are dedicated to the sound management of government financial resources.
