OMWD Employee Named California Water Environment Association’s Mechanical Technician of the Year
Olivenhain Municipal Water District employee Dominic “Bruno” Brunozzi was recognized today by the California Water Environment Association as Mechanical Technician of the Year at the CWEA annual conference in Santa Clara. Previously recognized as Mechanical Technician of the Year by CWEA’s San Diego Chapter, Mr. Brunozzi competed at the state level with 16 other technicians across California. The award was presented in recognition of Mr. Brunozzi’s outstanding contribution to wastewater plant and system maintenance, the development of equipment and significant process modifications to provide for more efficient work flow, and special efforts in the training of OMWD operators.
“We are very proud of Bruno, and the example he sets for all OMWD employees,” said Board Director Larry Watt. “His experience and expertise have assisted immeasurably in the steady operation at OMWD facilities. We are gratified by CWEA’s recognition of Bruno’s dedication to public service, and optimal operating and public health standards.”
Mr. Brunozzi has a strong work ethic, a trait he attributes to his 21-year military tenure. Since joining OMWD in 2007, Mr. Brunozzi has become a mentor to water reclamation plant operators at OMWD’s 4S Ranch Water Reclamation Facility as well as other employees. Mr. Brunozzi’s coaching has enabled departments to improve efficiencies with regard to asset management and preventative maintenance.
“I am honored to receive this year’s award at the local and state level. It shows that hard work, determination, and new ideas don’t go unnoticed,” said Mr. Brunozzi. “OMWD and our customers have invested in me, and I take that very seriously.”
CWEA recognizes outstanding wastewater professionals and agencies through local and statewide annual awards programs to stimulate public awareness of the importance of wastewater treatment to public health and the water environment.
