OMWD Offers Free Water-Wise Landscape Workshop and Tours of 4S Ranch Water Reclamation Facility on August 20
Olivenhain Municipal Water District invites members of the public to a free water-wise landscape workshop at its 4S Ranch Water Reclamation Facility on Saturday, August 20, followed by guided tours of the facility.
California Landscape Technologies, OMWD’s landscape program contractor, will provide an informative and interactive workshop that will introduce methods to reduce outdoor water use and increase irrigation efficiencies. The free workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is open to the public. Registration is requested.
Guided tours of the facility will be provided by water reclamation operators and demonstrate how OMWD transforms wastewater into recycled water that is used to irrigate parks, schools, golf courses, landscaped medians, and homeowners association common areas, thereby reducing local demand for costly imported water. Tours will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
In addition to the workshop and tours, there will also be complimentary refreshments, informational booths, and activities for children. Select water-saving devices will be available free of charge, while supplies last.
Guests can also learn first-hand about an exciting service that OMWD offers to its customers to help conserve potable water during the drought—a recycled water fill station for residential customer use. The station is located in the 4S Ranch area and is open to any OMWD residential customer who has undergone a brief certification process. The recycled water is provided free of charge and is applicable for non-potable water uses such as landscape irrigation.
The 4S Ranch Water Reclamation Facility recycles up to two million gallons of water each day and is located at 16595 Dove Canyon Road in San Diego.
