OMWD Wins Financial Reporting Excellence Award for Twenty-Second Consecutive Year
Olivenhain Municipal Water District’s Finance Manager, Rainy Selamat, presented to OMWD’s Board of Directors at its May 17 meeting the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, recognizing OMWD’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016. This is the twenty-second consecutive year OMWD has received the award.
“It is critical that, as a public agency, we keep our customers informed of our financial activities,” said Edmund K. Sprague, OMWD Board Treasurer. “This award is a validation of OMWD’s ongoing commitment to ensure that financial plans, policies, and practices are efficient and organized to carry out long-term plans.”
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. This award acknowledges OMWD’s financial transparency efforts and commitment to open government.
The comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) is developed in order to provide citizens, investors, and other interested parties with reliable financial information about OMWD. A panel of independent experts judged OMWD’s 2016 CAFR, determining that the document visibly communicated OMWD’s financial story and motivated outside individuals to read the CAFR in a clear “spirit of full disclosure.”
OMWD’s comprehensive annual financial report is accessible to the public online at www.olivenhain.com/cafr.
