OMWD Wins Statewide Award for Operating Budget Excellence

Olivenhain Municipal Water District’s Board of Directors accepted at its February 19 meeting the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers’ Operating Budget Excellence Award for its budget for fiscal years 2025 and 2026.

The CSMFO award recognizes public agencies for demonstrating clarity, accuracy, and consistency in their budget document. OMWD’s budget met specific statewide standards and requirements that CSMFO considered to be of the highest quality. CSMFO determined that OMWD is implementing best management practices in budgeting and financial reporting.

This is the eighteenth year that OMWD has received the CSMFO Operating Budget Excellence Award. OMWD’s biennial budget document demonstrated OMWD’s commitment to maintaining a high level of service despite significant increases in wholesale water costs. OMWD continues to cover operational costs with water rates that remain in the lower third among San Diego County water agencies for the average residential customer.

“Our board is proud to receive this award acknowledging OMWD for meeting high standards in financial reporting,” said OMWD Board Vice President and Finance Committee member Neal Meyers. “Our budget document provides the public with easy access to how funds are being spent and reinforces accountability and transparency to our customers.”
